Prenetics owned DNAfit was delighted to be involved in YFood Tech Week London — the world’s largest week-long showcase and collaboration of the companies and associated trends that are transforming the food ecosystem using technology lead solutions.

On Monday 20th May, the team and I attended a completely plant-based dinner to discuss all things great in the future of food technology. It was great to meet with the innovators in the industry and explore how they see innovation in technology and food is evolving.

Sharing thoughts and ideas with captains of the industry literally planted the seed for future research ideas, commercialisation concepts and underpinned the notion that the desire for personalisation is going to grow and both companies and brands need to future proof accordingly,

The following day, we were also exhibited at Tech Week and attended a day dedicated to new innovations in the industry. The team enjoyed learning about the new discoveries, ideas and products in Food through speaking to attendees and listening to the speakers share their big plans for the future.

The great thing about YFoods is the fact it gives a spotlight to those companies that are leading in innovation, a role which our brand continues to play in our field,

DNA testing for fitness, nutrition and wellness is something that is rapidly making its way to the mainstream. Consumers are now thinking a lot more about the concept of ‘personalisation’ when it comes to nutrition and for this reason, are more excited about nutrigenomics than ever before.

Companies of Interest

A few exhibiters that stood out to us were …

Eat Grub, for example, is on a mission to normalise eating insects as a sustainable solution to the current environmental crisis. They argue that insects are great for their health benefits, minimal impact on the environment, can be delicious and are already a staple in many diets around the world.

The concept of eating insects in our culture is definitely a harder sell than most, yet demonstrates a clear examples as to the boundaries of how far companies are going to drive change to consumer behaviour.

Nova Meat is a company that 3D prints plant-based meat substitutes. Vegan ingredients such as rice, peas and seaweed, which provide the amino acids needed for a healthy diet, are turned into a food paste that is 3D-printed to form a raw, meat-like substances. Tapping into the day’s theme of sustainability, this company showed the incredible impact science can have on food, and eventually on society.

Also using 3D printers for amazing products is NOURISH3D, who provide all of your daily vitamins & nutrients conveniently 3D printed into a fruit gummy. Completely vegan and personalised to each individual’s needs, we loved that NOURISH3D, understands that everyone has completely different nutritional and vitamin requirements.

We’d like to thank YFood for such a great event, bringing together the most inspiring entrepreneurs and innovative companies in the food and drink industry.
